格鲁吉亚示威者与警察爆冲突
抗议者试图进入一个关押著三名活动人士的警方设施,这三名活动人士是星期二在跟一名亲政府的电视记者发生摩擦之后被扣留的。22名抗议者、六名警察受了伤,反对党领导人也在受伤者之列。示威者要求总统萨卡什维利离职,谴责他的不民主行为,以及他对2008年跟俄罗斯发生5天冲突一事的处理方法。

中国最近正在为六方会谈的复会做努力,计划近期派出对朝特使。北京当局认为已到了重启六方会谈的时机。作为对朝特使,中国计划派出党中央对外联络部相关人员,而不是外交部官员。对外联络部部长王家瑞是对朝特使的有力人选。中方认为为使朝鲜重返六方会谈,首先要改善南北关系,美国也要表示出诚意,因此向韩国和美国转达了这一立场。

美国就业人数降幅减小
Automatic Data Processing Inc.和Macroeconomic Advisers发布的报告显示,4月
份私人部门裁减了491,000个工作岗位,大大低于3月份裁减的708,000个。由于政府部门的工作岗位继续增加,这份报告预计周五官方发布的就业人口报告将显示就业人数减少483,000人,远低于3月份663,000人的降幅。
中国商务部:汇率波动影响出口,外贸形势依然严峻

比亚迪股价三天暴涨超35%
在香港上市的比亚迪(01211)连续三天飙升涨幅超过35%。2008年9月29日,巴菲特旗下附属公司中美能源控股以每股8港元的价格认购比亚迪2.25亿股股份,约占比亚迪10%的股份。截至昨日收盘该股已上涨267.5%,巴菲特投资比亚迪已经净赚48.15亿港元。
专家:压力测试迫使银行增加筹资
接受测试的19家银行当中,有10家需要筹集总额为750亿美元的额外资本。其中,美国银行和富国银行筹资需求最大。美国银行需要筹集340亿美元的新资本,花旗集团的资本充足率也没有通过压力测试,但资本缺口较小。摩根大通可能不需要额外筹资。

Rio Tinto says Chinalco deal still makes sense
Global miner Rio Tinto (RIO.AX) (RIO.L) still believes that its planned $19.5 billion tie-up with Chinese state-owned investor Chinalco makes sense, Rio Tinto head of strategy Doug Ritchie said on Thursday.
Investors have been speculating Rio might have to revise the deal after its shares last week climbed above the $45 conversion price on the first of two tranches of convertible notes that would be issued to Chinalco under the deal, struck in February.

GM posts $6bn loss as bankruptcy looms
The latest net loss, equal to $9.78 a share, compared with a loss of $3.3bn, or $5.80 a share, a year earlier. Revenues almost halved to $22.4bn from $42.4bn. It burnt through $10.2bn of cash in the three months.
Billions required to bolster US banks
People close to the situation expect Citi to have to raise no more than $6bn through the expansion of its planned conversion of preferred shares – less than the $10bn-plus the market had feared. The move could decrease the government’s stake in Citi, which was expected to be 36 per cent to about 33 per cent.
Morgan Stanley is believed to need $1.5bn in additional equity, as a result of its recent acquisition of a majority stake in Citi’s Smith Barney brokerage unit.
Tim Geithner, the US Treasury Secretary, said last night on PBS: “I think the results will be, on balance, reassuring.” Investors shared that feeling, with shares in BofA, Citi and Wells Fargo – another bank expected to need $10bn-plus in equity – all rising more than 15 per cent.
Up to 10 of the 19 banks are likely to need fresh equity, according to people familiar with the situation.
